The past year was busy for Visit Tallinn in the business tourism field. Visit Tallinn’s business tourism manager Meeli Jaaksoo and business tourism project manager Made Pandis-Raie look back on the year 2021.

Tallinn Convention Bureau is especially proud of Tallinn’s title as the MTLG Index 2021 best L-category conference destination.

Last year the bureau, and the entire Tallinn’s Tourism Office, took a big leap forward into becoming a more sustainable tourism destination. They joined the GDS Index program (results were published in November) and Tallinn was announced as the European Green Capital of 2023.

In tailwind of such great initiatives, Tallinn Convention Bureau has published a sustainable roadmap for event organisers. And in 2022, they aim to co-create city-wide sustainable event guidelines which will give suggestions and pointers on how to hold sustainable events in Tallinn. They have also added some practical resources for event planning in Tallinn.

In 2021, the team began their cooperation with Kongres Magazine and as a result, 78 articles/news pieces/interviews were published during the year. In addition, 18 unique venues have been added to the Kongres Magazine database to inspire event organisers.

Over the year, two interviews were published on Kongres Magazine’s website:

– Interview with Meeli Jaaksoo
– Interview with Made Pandis-Raie

The greatest challenge of 2021 was attending face-to-face international marketing events. But at the end of 2021, Tallinn Convention Bureau managed to end the 2-year-long pause and attended the IBTM World in Barcelona with their wonderful “Team Estonia”. Additionally, they attended three virtual workshops in 2021.

The main goal of 2022 is to attend as many F2F marketing events as possible. It is the organisation’s main mission because they sense that many of our partners have no reserves left to afford to attend such events. Therefore, as a destination, they can support them and do their best to promote Tallinn and its many venues and organisers in the international arena.
