A destination committed to sustainability
Sitges is a destination that is committed to sustainability. Ever since 2016, the Sitges Convention Bureau has been working side by side with the Town Council and local companies to improve in all areas of sustainability, be it environmental, economic, or social, as well as to guarantee optimum health and safety conditions, in order to achieve and maintain a balance between tourists and residents.
But now they’ve gone a step further and have put together a guide to make it easier for meeting planners to hold a sustainable event in Sitges. Event organisers can thus help them to uphold our commitment and improve it with their actions and those of their guests. Sustainably-oriented attendees can demonstrate this by using public transport, reducing unnecessary consumption, recycling waste, and reusing as much as possible.
A walkable and sustainable destination
Sitges’ commitment to sustainability is a fact. Sitges, certified since 2016 as a Biosphere destination, strives to improve in all areas of sustainability, both environmental, economic, and social, as well as to ensure safety and health conditions, in order to achieve and maintain a balance between tourists and residents. 2021 closed with 25 destination companies and resources with Biosphere certification. In addition, 9 of Sitges’ beaches and 3 of its marinas have been awarded the Blue Flag certifying their quality.
