The people of Hamburg are known not only for their straightforwardness, cosmopolitan attitude and warmth but also for their understatement. But when it is about the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg, understatement just doesn’t hit the mark. Why? Because the new CCH is unique. As one of Europe’s most advanced and largest convention centres with 36,000 square meters of available space, it breaks the mould.

The number “12,000” has an almost magical significance: 12,000 square meters of event space, another 12,000 square meters of foyer space, and a total number of 12,000 visitors who can attend events at the CCH simultaneously. The complex can provide up to 50 multifunctional halls for conventions and events of any kind, spread across four levels and three event sections – West, Center and East. Each of the three sections has its own entrances and exits.

A conference and a dance at the same time?

Nearly all of the halls have one unbeatable advantage: they can be downsized, enlarged, subdivided or expanded to suit the needs of meeting planners. What is more, the vertical and horizontal layout of the CCH allows several events to take place simultaneously. State-of-the-art technical equipment on all levels and in every hall, and free Wi-Fi throughout the complex are services guests can take for granted.

A unique complex for events

The modernized and upgraded CCH – Congress Center Hamburg enthrals visitors with its light-flooded modern architecture, expertly designed room concepts and state-of-the-art AV systems. It sets new standards in terms of location, flexibility and individuality. Throughout the CCH, an innovative lighting system provides perfect lighting conditions by day and night. Sustainability was a top priority for the architects of the redesign, and the CCH hopes to receive a Gold Certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Building bridges has a long tradition in Hamburg

Hamburg is not only one of the world’s most beautiful cities, but also one of the most cosmopolitan and hospitable metropolises. What is more, Hamburg, one of Germany’s leading economic and scientific hubs, boasts more bridges than most other major cities in the world. With more than 2,500 bridges, the city by the Elbe river even beats Amsterdam and Venice. And just like the entire city of Hamburg, the CCH itself is a bridge-builder. It is surrounded by Planten un Blomen, one of the most popular green areas in the city, where people of all ages enjoy spending leisure time. When an event at the CCH has ended, visitors have a wide range of choices for fun activities, from recreational sites to cultural programs to sitting down with friends for a chat. There are international restaurants for any budget, shopping districts, museums, musical and theatre performances, the world-famous Reeperbahn, or the iconic new Elbphilharmonie concert building, affectionately dubbed “Elphie” by locals.

There will be another notable event the venue will celebrate in the near future: in 2023 the CCH will celebrate its 50th birthday. By then, the new CCH is sure to have won the hearts not only of its faithful Hamburg audience but also those of many new guests from around the world. A new era has begun for the CCH.
