Outstanding contribution to the city of Ljubljana
Gregor Jamnik, General Manager of Best Western Premier Hotel Slon Ljubljana and member of the advisory board of BWH Hotel Group Central Europe, has been honoured with the Ljubljana City Award 2022 for his special achievements in the development of urban tourism and its recovery during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The award is the highest recognition of the Slovenian capital and is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the city of Ljubljana.
On the city’s holiday on 9 May, the hotelier received the Ljubljana City Award 2022 from mayor Zoran Janković for his special achievements in the development of urban tourism and its recovery during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to the successful management of two of Ljubljana’s leading hotels (Best Western Premier Hotel Slon and City Hotel Ljubljana), Gregor Jamnik also serves as president of the Slovenian Association of Hoteliers. Within BWH Hotel Group Central Europe, the umbrella brand for Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Jamnik represents his fellow colleagues from the hotels in the Central Eastern European region including Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.
The successful hotelier has been keen advancing the tourist development of Ljubljana as a boutique green capital and a congress destination at the highest level. With his expert proposals to the government and a clear strategy, Jamnik left his mark on the city of Ljubljana, especially in the field of tourism recovery, after the Covid-19 crisis. He has first-hand experience of tackling this generational challenge as he managed to keep Best Western Premier Hotel Slon open as one of only two hotels in Ljubljana to athletes, and political and business delegations through all waves of the pandemic. In addition, Jamnik has always been committed to spreading good business practices, increasing the competitiveness of hotel management and HR development, improving the reputation of the hospitality professionals as well as sustainable development in tourism.
