Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre has renewed its Sustainable Travel Finland label. Visit Finland’s Sustainable Travel Finland label is evidence of the valuable and long-term work for sustainable tourism.
Visit Finland’s Sustainable Travel Finland programme promotes sustainable tourism and communicates Finland as a country of sustainable tourism. Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre received the first Sustainable Travel Finland recognition in the autumn of 2020.
The label is renewed annually by reviewing the company’s own responsibility path, for instance, the development and action plan, with its new goals and timetables. The right to use the label also requires a valid environmental certificate, which in the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre’s case is the ISO 14001:2015 environmental certificate.
The Sustainable Travel Finland label facilitates tourists’ choices when making travel decisions. Responsibility is a megatrend and a crucial selection criterion for more and more purchasing decision-makers. The aim of the Expo and Convention Centre is to make its services more and more sustainable and also encourage its customers to make environmentally friendly choices.
Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is a climate partner of the City of Helsinki and aims for 110% carbon neutrality by 2029. Responsibility is strongly reflected in the events of the Centre. Matka Nordic Travel Fair, organised annually by Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, rewards products and services that take into consideration sustainability particularly well and that serve as trendsetters for the rest of the tourism industry.
