The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), Malaysia’s premier purpose-built venue, will be attending IMEX in Frankfurt 2022 to once again engage and connect with the global business events industry face-to-face.

The Centre is also looking forward to welcoming more international events and delegates to the venue, following the Malaysian Government’s announcement to reopen the country’s borders and the Health Ministry’s recent announcement that fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to undertake a COVID-19 test pre-departure or upon arrival.

The Health Ministry of Malaysia recently loosened some of the local COVID-19 restrictions, including venues that can now operate at full capacity, the wearing of masks outdoors is optional, visitors are not required to check in with their MySejahtera app and those who are not vaccinated can enter the premises.

Alan Pryor

General Manager of KLCC

Alan Pryor, the Centre’s General Manager, shared, “We are delighted to be attending IMEX in Frankfurt again this year, which provides the perfect platform for us to expand and strengthen our relationships face-to-face with Europe-based clients as well as the international business events industry. Europe remains a vital target market for us and with the recent reopening of Malaysia’s borders and loosening of local COVID-19 restrictions, we are looking forward to once again welcoming international events to the Centre.”

He continued, “We are on track to host over 150 events that will be attracting more than 250,000 delegates between now and the end of the year. While most of these are national events, we have 20 international conventions and exhibitions taking place this year and we are working closely with the local supply chain, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and international organisers to increase that number next year and beyond.”

“A warm and friendly multicultural country, Malaysia embraces diversity and offers a distinct value proposition, including amazing hospitality, world-class infrastructure and supply-chain, excellent connectivity and accessibility, as well as a multi-lingual population with English widely spoken, which makes the country such an attractive business events destination. The Centre’s strategic location and precinct proposition, as well as our flexible approach and innovative offerings, also remain a powerful differentiator, which the European and international market should be looking to take advantage of moving forward,” concluded Pryor.

In addition to MyCEB’s various support programmes, one of the recent initiatives international organisers should note is the MySafe Business Events Planner, which incorporates real-time information for event organisers and international delegates to help them enjoy a pleasant and safe journey to Malaysia. It also provides links to key websites with relevant information for the business events industry and delegates alike.
