Best Western hoteliers from Europe met in Unterhaching near Munich in June for the Annual Conference of BWH Hotel Group Central Europe GmbH and the Annual General Meeting of DEHAG Hospitality Group AG.
During the three-day conference, the brand’s current as well as future projects and strategies were discussed. Also as part of their conference, the hoteliers elected a new supervisory board of BWH’s parent company DEHAG Hospitality Group AG and the ten-member advisory board of BWH Hotel Group Central Europe GmbH at their shareholders’ meeting.
Intensive exchange on current trend topics
At the three-day event near Munich, hoteliers exchanged views on their brand’s plans and strategies and discussed current industry topics such as human resources, sustainability, digitalization, and marketing and sales projects. “After such a long forced break and many virtual and hybrid conferences and meetings, we finally all came together again in person in Unterhaching to meet again, learn from each other and network. That was very good! At our conference, we focused on the major topics and future trends. It is always good to think outside the box. It is inspiring for all of us to intensively discuss the various specialist topics in all facets with the relevant departments, external speakers and our hoteliers, but also with representatives from the customer side and partners whom we have invited,” explain Marcus Smola and Carmen Duecker, both CEO of BWH Hotel Group Central Europe GmbH.
In order to set an example in terms of sustainability – one of the focus topics of the conference – BWH Hotel Group Central Europe will compensate for the CO2 consumption of its annual conference 2022 in cooperation with its long-standing cooperation partner Click A Tree: One new tree will be planted in Ghana for each conference guest.
Through the partners’ meeting and the Advisory Board, it is ensured that all the hoteliers themselves decide on all important decisions and strategies of the brand and have a say. “The new Advisory Board and Supervisory Board continue to ensure that the co-determination of our hoteliers from all countries is guaranteed in all strategic decisions of our brand, true to our credo “From hoteliers for hoteliers!” This procedure is what distinguishes us most significantly from other franchise companies,” explains the re-elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Advisory Board, Christoph Unckell.
“I am particularly pleased that with Julia Ruebsamen and Anna Friedrich, two new female Supervisory Board members were elected this year, who replaced Kai Gelhausen from the Best Western Plus Konrad Zuse Hotel in Huenfeld and Oliver Schreiber from the Best Western Plus Atrium Hotel in Ulm on the board, as both did not stand for election again this time. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Kai Gelhausen and Oliver Schreiber for their many years of dedicated service on the Supervisory Board and Advisory Board of our group,” Unckell continued.
