Cankarjev dom is hosting the 17th European Congress of Psychologists, ECP, attended by nearly 1000 international experts. The central theme of this year’s congress is Psychology as the centre of science: opportunities and responsibilities. The event started on 5 July and will conclude on 8 July.

Marko Vrtovec, president of the Slovenian Psychologists’ Association and President of the ECP 2022 Congress, said that this year’s theme focuses on Boyack’s research, which showcased why psychology represents one of the seven pillars of science. Thus, the event will discuss the prominence of the discipline’s correlation and influence on other scientific branches.

The opening of the congress was followed by an official lecture titled Social communication and the role of consensus in bees, prepared by Janko Božič, Mojca Juriševič and Stephen David Reicher. The theme goes hand in hand with Cankarjev dom’s aspirations, a pioneering conference centre in urban beekeeping in Slovenia by offering a unique insight into their world.

Cankarjev dom is actively involved in the programme of the ECP 2022 Congress by offering a guided tour of its rooftop beehives and an explanation of the concept of urban beekeeping. Franci Petrovčič, one of the founding fathers of the idea and a renowned urban beekeeper, ensured visitors get a holistic insight into the fascinating bee world. The event attendees will also have the opportunity to marvel at an enlarged bee model, the Apis mellifera carnica, a domestic Slovenian bee sort. During Expo in Dubai, the bee model was exhibited at the Slovenian Pavillion.

On the roof of Cankarjev dom, bees have been coexisting with culture and events for eleven years. The venue’s honey is high-quality and certified with the geographical indication status. Cankarjev dom is a member of The Bee Path in Ljubljana, envisaged and led by the Municipality of Ljubljana in 2015.
