Ljubljana Tourism helped co-create the world’s largest cycling conference

The 29th Velo-city 2022 fostered sustainable change in Ljubljana

Ljubljana recently played host to the largest global cycling conference, Velo-city. The central theme of the event was titled “Cycling the change”. Over 1,300 participants attended the event, and 350 speakers discussed various aspects of urban cycling in a slew of insightful events. Ljubljana Tourism played an integral role in organising the global conference.

Ljubljana Convention Bureau provided extensive support in the preparation and execution of the conference. At a promotional level, Ljubljana Tourism advocated Ljubljana’s cycling boom at last year’s Velo-city conference in Lisbon, thus advancing mobility and tourism. During the meeting in Ljubljana, they provided 35 specialised guided tours around the city for conference participants and co-organised the cycling festival on Congress Square.

During the conference, Petra Stušek, Director of Ljubljana Tourism, presented the practices, strategic orientations and results of bicycle tourism in Ljubljana. In addition, the round table delved into the increasing economic benefits of bicycle tourism in destinations globally. The event concluded with a grand bicycle parade around the capital.
