A networking event for medical associations in Penang

Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) organised a networking event for the medical associations in Penang yesterday at the iconic Cheah Kongsi graced by The Honourable Yeoh Soon Hin, the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy.

An exclusive networking event that went by the theme called ‘Siren Night’, was attended by various medical association members, professional conference organisers (PCO), and Destination Management Companies from Penang.

The event aimed to present the latest initiatives from the bureau to boost and entice international medical conferences into Penang and how the medical associations can work closely with the bureau to achieve this mission. Some of the PCOs also shared their profile and services in organising conferences in Penang.

“Penang is one of the leading Medical Tourism destinations in South East Asia due to its stellar infrastructure, facilities, and skilful healthcare providers. This positions Penang as a highly potential venue for international standard medical conferences which will further enhance the healthcare quality of this state. To date, we have supported close to 57 medical conferences in Penang. And moving forward, we have shifted our gear to full throttle in bringing more medical conferences to Penang,” quoted Ashwin Gunasekeran, the CEO of PCEB.

“While medical tourists seek to improve their health, they also have the opportunity to relax and see places they have never been before and in return earn memories they will never forget. Hence, Penang is always thriving to offer the best hospitality for the travellers in terms of culture, heritage, nature, and not to forget, the amazing gastronomic experience,” said Yeoh Soon Hin in his speech.

The state is also giving extra intentness to this sector because the fast growth of medical tourism helps to provide business opportunities and employment to locals. It also helps in generating direct employment that includes jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry.

PCEB is eagerly anticipating collaboration with medical associations and industry partners to catapult their vision to position Penang as the preferred destination for medical conferences.
