VIENNA’S NEW MEETING HUB

The new meeting location Weitsicht Cobenzl comes with magnificent views of Vienna. And event organisers have the pick of no less than three buildings, each offering multiple rooms.

The Cobenzl is one of Vienna’s landmark hills and a popular destination for excursions. in mid-September 2022, Weitsicht Cobenzl opened here, adding a spectacular new meeting location for events of all kinds. The new venue is an ensemble of existing and newly constructed buildings, all now fitted with state-of-the-art meeting technology. Rooms for meetings and events can be booked in three buildings, which are located in an idyllic spot, nestled deep in the vineyards that frame Vienna’s outskirts. All rooms have sensational long-distance views of Vienna.

Where Old Meets New

The newly built Panoramahaus building comprises three light-flooded rooms on three levels. Each level comes with its own spacious terrace, which is perfect for break times. At 80 square meters, the top gallery level can accommodate up to 100 people and has a giant 400-square-meter terrace. Below, on the middle floor, the Panoramaloft has a maximum capacity of 300. On the lowest level, the Garden Salon can host up to 160 guests. The rooms, which can be booked individually or all together, are barrier-free and equipped with state-of-the-art event technology. Reception desks and break areas are available on each level.

Refurbished from the ground up, Schloss Cobenzl is back to its original best with an impressive domed hall for up to 400 people. Highlights include its luxe chandeliers and a stage. As with the other rooms in the Panoramahaus, the doors to the hall can be opened up to incorporate a spacious terrace into the space. Schloss Cobenzl can be booked as part of a package including all or some of the rooms in the Panoramahaus.

The third building in the ensemble and another part of the original estate, the Meierei was fully renovated during the project. It contains a pair of salons for up to 60 people each, making them the ideal choice for smaller-scale discussions, seminars and meetings. The two rooms can also be combined.

50s Style Retro

Also on-site, the Rondell café-restaurant is open to the public. In a nod to Rondell’s roots, the 1950s were cited throughout, as evidenced by the choice of furnishings in particular. It also adds another lunch and dinner option for participants at events held at the smaller meeting locations.

The site now occupied by Weitsicht Cobenzl has an eventful history behind it. It is named after Johann Philipp Count Cobenzl, who acquired the estate in 1773 and had a small stately residence built there in 1776. Having fallen into disrepair over the years, it was eventually condemned and had to be demolished in 1966. The area became an increasingly popular destination for day trippers from the 1930s, and the early 1950s brought the construction of the legendary Rondell Café – which the aesthetic of the newly built café-restaurant is modelled on. Wood panelling, terrazzo flooring and lots of plants provide a thematic constant that extends throughout the entire Weitsicht Cobenzl ensemble. The interior design was created by Kroenland Interior under the stewardship of Conrad Kroencke. Berlin-based Realarchitektur and Mostlikely Architecture from Vienna were handed responsibility for concept and design following an international architectural competition.
