THE PARADISE GARDEN
The originally steep slope down to the flatland of the River March to the east offered Prince Eugene an ideal terrain to plan a garden after the French model. Within a few years, one of the most splendid gardens in the region was created according to the plans of the garden landscaper Anton Zinner.
The estate farm’s function in the eighteenth century was to provide the princely household with food and luxuries, to care for the upkeep of the riding and domestic animals, and to perform maintenance services. Today the area covers many different sections, which make farming life in the Baroque age come to life again.
Already in the age of Prince Eugene of Savoy and Empress Maria Theresa, Schloss Hof was a popular location for resplendent banquets and opulent festivities.
