The royal venue above Brno

The iconic landmark of Brno hides not only famous dungeons but also a wide range of spaces for your events. Meeting planners can use the Ogilvy Hall, the Royal Chapel or the Prism Tower. Each of these rooms can accommodate up to ninety people.

However, the most magical events at Špilberk are open-air gatherings. The backdrop is not only the ancient castle but mainly the city of Brno itself. The large courtyard is suitable for concerts, theatres or large buffets and can accommodate up to 700 people. The South Terrace can accommodate up to 600 people. Spilberk Castle can host inspiring lectures and spectacular gala evenings.

The Dungeon of Nations

For over seven centuries, Špilberk Castle has dominated the skyline of Brno, a reminder of the safety and protection it provided. From a major royal castle and the seat of the Moravian margraves, it gradually turned into a vast baroque fortress and the most notorious prison in the Austro-Hungarian empire. Today, Špilberk houses the Brno City Museum and is one of the most noticeable cultural centres in Brno. It was certified as a national heritage monument in 1962.

In the summer season, the castle courtyards and other premises come alive with various cultural events, concerts, theatre performances and historical shows. Over 100,000 people visit the museum exhibitions annually, including the casemates. Furthermore, the lookout gallery of the corner tower offers picture postcard views of Brno.
