The established two-day trade show culminated in an evening dedicated to the Meetings Star competition, now in its 13th edition. Considered the Michelin stars of the meetings industry, the awards recognised the industry’s excellence. Cankarjev dom has been a partner of Conventa for more than a decade.
Over 350 professionals from the meetings industry joined the event. Every year, Cankarjev dom hosted one of Conventa’s welcome receptions. For the 15th anniversary, the venue had the opportunity to showcase to attendees their largest and most prestigious Gallus Hall. Because of its modern technical equipment, the hall is suitable for hosting the most demanding events.
The presentation of the awards was enriched by exceptional visual effects created by the technical teams of Cankarjev dom and the Visual Europe Group. After the official award ceremony, another surprise wowed the guests. Upon rising the projection screen, a hidden stage rose from below. Guests could step onto the stage and enjoy gastronomic delights from Jezeršek Catering whilst enjoying the show of Klemen Slakonja & The Small Band.
Winners were announced in three main categories:
A. Best Meeting Destinations in 2022/2023
Among 125 evaluated destinations from 33 countries, winners were announced in four categories (XL, L, M and S destinations) and an additional category comprising destinations in New Europe.
B. Best Meeting Hotels and Convention Centres in 2022/2023
Among 238 certified hotels from 18 countries of New Europe, the Meetings Star Award honoured the winners in five categories (city, resort, spa, boutique meeting hotels and convention centres).
C. Most Influential People in 2022/2023
The most influential people in the regional meetings industry were selected among 242 candidates from 24 countries. The prestigious award went to Dušan Borvočanin, the CEO of the Serbia Convention Bureau.
Cankarjev dom won the prestigious award in the category of Best Slovenian Convention Centres with a final mark of 4.90. The jury recognised Cankarjev dom as a cultural and convention meeting point where Slovenian history was written. Cankarjev dom has been the heart of creative congresses and events in Slovenia for the past four decades.
The coveted recognition places Cankarjev dom belongs among the top five convention centres in this part of Europe. The award was accepted by Ms. Breda Pečovnik, Congress and Commercial Programme Director at Cankarjev dom.
