Strengthening cooperation between key stakeholders in Ljubljana
In March, the tenth meeting of the Consortium of the Ljubljana Convention Bureau (KUL) took place in Ljubljana. The Consortium aims to strengthen cooperation between key stakeholders in the field of business and other international meetings in the city. In addition to KUL, 52 partners from the public and private sectors cooperate in the Consortium, working together to attract as many international events to Ljubljana as possible.
“Since 2018, we have been building a community that connects key stakeholders working at the destination, within the tourism industry, the meeting industry or companies that directly profit from tourism. When we now look back at what we have achieved in these years, I think we can be satisfied because our persistence and diligent work are reflected in the achieved results. The results helped the meeting industry in Ljubljana experience an immediate boost last year after the end of the corona restrictions,” said Petra Stušek, Director of Ljubljana Tourism, and added that the support within the consortium “is an important part of the destination mosaic in acquiring new international events.”
This year, the Sports Consortium of Ljubljana Tourism joined the KUL Consortium. As Petra Stušek stressed, sports events can significantly contribute to strengthening the occupancy of the destination in the low season (one of the strategic goals of Ljubljana Tourism).
The main tasks of the KUL Consortium
The main tasks of the KUL Consortium are coordinated cooperation between stakeholders for the most efficient operation possible, collecting data on the number and type of international meetings in Ljubljana, and providing support for bids for events that require destination co-financing. These are very important for the destination, as they contribute to the deseasonalization of tourism, extending overnight stays and increasing the average expenditure of guests. Successful acquisition of such events requires cooperation at the level of various stakeholders. Partnership within the Consortium is coordinated by the Ljubljana Convention Bureau.
