TWO UNIQUE CYCLING PROGRAMS
The Latium Experience DMO, a mixed public-private association for promoting and commercializing the tourist flows of 12 Municipalities of Latium, the Italian region headed by Rome, announces, in collaboration with the Talamata Viaggi agency, the launch of two products tailored for cycling enthusiasts.
It’s two itineraries of about 240 km each, from Rome to Gaeta, one stretching from the Appia Antica park to the coasts of the Tyrrhenian Sea along the oldest route in the world, the Regina Viarum, and the other covering the itinerary dedicated to Anna Magnani, one of the most famous Italian actresses of all times, in a virtuoso up and down between plain and hill.
The first itinerary goes along one of the most fascinating routes on Earth: just think that in 2023 the National Geographic magazine included the ancient Appian Way among the five best tourist destinations on the planet. It starts from the Baths of Caracalla and touches astonishing locations such as the Garden of Ninfa, classified by the New York Times among the most beautiful and romantic places in the world, the medieval village of Fossanova with the adjoining abbey, one of the most significant examples of Gothic art in Italy, and Terracina, an ancient city which became a Roman colony in 329 BC. Possible boat trips to the islands of Ponza and Palmarola.

The second itinerary also starts from the Baths of Caracalla and then deviates towards Latina and its lido, characterized by long and wide sandy shores. Visits include Torre Astura, a 1st century BC fortification, the charming village of San Felice Circeo and the coastal lakes. Upon request, it is possible to add a stopover on the island of Ventotene for a day of trekking.
Along all the itineraries plenty of farmhouses are available – typical Italian country accommodations, whose owners prepare exclusive specialities such as buffalo mozzarella ice cream with their own hands. Not to mention the busy calendar of both folkloric and food-and-wine events, taking place every year from May to October.
