The 35th European Academy of Childhood Disability Annual Meeting (EACD 2023) will take place from 24 – 27 May. The motto of the EACD annual meeting is “Smarter Goals for a Better Future”, with the intent to emphasise the importance of goal setting in all processes of care in the rehabilitation of children and youth.

Assist. Prof. Katja Groleger Sršen, MD, PhD, President of the Local Scientific and Organizing Committee and Head of the Department for Rehabilitation of Children at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, explained: “We started preparing for the event three years ago by bidding for the event. We selected the main topic and five subtopics that immediately caught the attention of association members. We now expect to host over 800 attendees in Ljubljana.”

An excellent opportunity to share experiences and exchange scientific ideas

She further lauded their cooperation with Cankarjev dom, where they prepared a coherent financial construction for the bid. The holistic approach convinced members of the management board of the European Academy of Childhood Disability, EACD, to host the event in Ljubljana. Cankarjev dom has been organising events for several decades and has become a long-standing partner of the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia. Thus, the choice for Cankarjev dom was obvious. Moreover, the venue’s central location makes it perfect for the event, as it ensures nearby hotel capacities and easy accessibility for event attendees.

Assist. Prof. Katja Groleger Sršen, MD, PhD, is convinced that, together with her colleagues, members of the local organising committee and the team of Cankarjev dom, they will thrill attendees and ensure them an excellent opportunity to share experiences, exchange scientific ideas, and foster interactions between all professionals, children and their families.
