The hot spot of a thriving biotechnology industry
The Dutch city of Maastricht has been selected as the host of the European Congress on Biotechnology in July 2024. The congress will showcase frontline science that will form the basis for future commercial innovation in various fields of biotechnology, such as healthcare, agriculture, and the environment. There’s a good reason this major world biotechnology congress is about to land in Maastricht, as the city in the heart of Europe is the hot spot of a thriving biotechnology industry.
Major player in biotechnology
Though small in surface area, the Netherlands is a major player in biotechnology. Its success is based on a strong academic backbone, an entrepreneurial spirit, a remarkable talent to get things organized and a natural ability to cooperate. The most European city in the Netherlands is Maastricht which lies at the heart of a region of 4 million people from four different countries. The city has an important international focus, with many international institutes, an academic hospital, a university, and the renowned conference centre MECC.

Joint congress of ICB2024 and ECB2024
The European Congress on Biotechnology 2024 is a joint congress of IBS2024 and ECB 2024 and will take place from 30 June to 3 July 2024 at the MECC conference centre.
