Kongres Magazine interviewed the jury members for Conventa Best Event Award 2023, in light of the event in August. Manuela Šola states that for her it’s important that an event is not a tool chosen without a purpose.

Q1: What do you look for when you evaluate the best events?

For me, it is important that an event is not a tool chosen without a purpose. You need to have a background that will be in line with the storytelling. That is why I appreciate the unique and original concept, but also the creative execution and innovative approach. To be the best you need to leave a lasting impression and create a memorable experience. Of course, we have to think about the brand so I tend to seek the bigger picture and the impact that event had on the client or industry.

Q2: What advice would you give to agencies and brands thinking about what event to put forward for Conventa Best Event Award?

Think twice before you decide which project will you apply with. Choose the one that stands out from the rest. The jury loves good storytelling and that is why it is important to explain the local relevance of the project to the reader. It needs to be an event that achieved significant success or made an impact in the industry. Emphasize the agency’s values like creativity, show the quality of execution, and back it up with measurable results. If you don’t have it, or you can’t tell this story – think again.

“it is crucial to avoid subjective metrics, as well as irrelevant and incomplete data, as they can negatively impact the overall perception of the project.”

Q3: What tips would you give to agencies and brands putting together case studies for their events?

Tell it through data, appealing visuals, and videos. Include its unique aspects and challenges overcome. It is important to engage the reader and make the case study more memorable and persuasive.

Q4: What kind of results and ROI metrics impress you in a case study, and which ones disappoint?

Valuable metrics include tangible results that align directly with the purpose of the project. It is highly important to showcase the ability to reach and engage a wide audience, with metrics such as attendance numbers, press mentions and earned media impressions, social media reach and engagement rates. It can demonstrate success in generating publicity and raising awareness. However, it is crucial to avoid subjective metrics, as well as irrelevant and incomplete data, as they can negatively impact the overall perception of the project.
