Budapest recently welcomed the 9th edition of MICE Business Day, a trade show dedicated to the meetings industry in Hungary and beyond. The event took place on 26 October 2023 in Hungexpo and welcomed numerous industry experts, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening Hungary’s position on the international market.

MICE Business Day is Hungary’s only business tourism forum. Its most important mission is to provide networking and educational opportunities for key stakeholders in the MICE market. At the event, participants partook in one-to-one workshops and had a chance to listen to speakers who discussed the most important and current issues in the industry. MICE Business Day 2023 laid the foundation for future business.

In addition to domestic exhibitors and buyers, guests from international markets, primarily from neighbouring countries, attended the trade show. The show floor was full from start to finish and many contracts were signed before the day’s end.

An impressive lineup of speakers delving into future trends

In the framework of the conference, the participants could learn about the current market trends, especially the effects of artificial intelligence and its aspects related to tourism. This year, the professional conference preceding the B2B sessions, had a more prominent role.

Before the professional presentations, Zoltán Gál Pál, Managing Director of Turizmus Kft., Gábor Ganczer, General Manager of Hungexpo, and Zsuzsanna Szégner, Director of International Relations of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, gave welcoming speeches.

David Kliman, the founder and president of the Kliman Group, who was honoured with the IMEX Academy Awards in 2023, discussed the international situation of the meeting industry, its post-Covid regeneration, and current market trends.

The presentation of Arthúr Keleti, “cyber secret” futurist and founder of IT Security Day (ITBN) on the effects of artificial intelligence on the social environment and its tourism-related aspects also raised tremendous interest.

The conference part also included a panel session, where the guests discussed gastro-tourism and winemaking trends, technological innovations, and experience-based catering. Pál Rókusfalvy, government commissioner responsible for national wine marketing, István Pesti, chef of the Michelin-starred Tata Platán Restaurant, and Zoltán Kőrössy, founding co-owner of the Eventrend Group, shared their insights.

The event is one of the most important MICE events in Hungary and fosters the growth of the regional meetings industry.
