International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, has strengthened its commitment to New South Wales (NSW) wine producers by supporting and participating in a number of key wine industry events, including the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards to promote NSW producers or winemakers through its international network.
ICC Sydney’s partnership with the NSW Wine Industry Association, now in its fifth year, builds on the venue’s support for the state’s wine industry as part of its commitment to showcase NSW wine to millions of event attendees who walk through its doors each year.
The venue hosted the 2023 ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards Luncheon, which saw the best winemakers from across NSW awarded trophies for their exceptional wines.
Held at ICC Sydney on 10 November, the Luncheon hosted more than 100 winemakers, industry guests and Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW as they came together to celebrate this year’s trophy winners.
Judging for the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards took place at the venue in October where a team of expert judges, led by Chief Judge Mr Nick Spencer tasted 850 entries from across all of the State’s 16 wine regions. Sixty-five wines won gold medals during the judging, with 20 trophies awarded at the luncheon.
ICC Sydney – a prolific supporter of the NSW wine industry
President of NSW Wine Industry Association, Mark Bourne said ICC Sydney’s support for home state wines has been exemplary.
“The team at ICC Sydney continue to lead when promoting NSW wines. Not only does the venue team support our industry all year round with a commitment to a 100% NSW wine list, but with their world-class venue and passionate people ensure our judging process and the awards luncheon are presented to the highest standard,” Mr. Bourne said.
William Wilson, Food and Beverage Manager and Sommelier said the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards provided an opportunity for members of the ICC Sydney team and its clients to discover award-winning premium products. “Our wine regions have had some challenging vintages recently and it is heartening to see so many great wines and great winemakers shining through. While we always see many of our winery partners collecting trophies, the NSW Wine Awards is a great way for new producers to showcase their wines. This event deepens our knowledge of what is available and how we can continue to champion the extraordinary wine of NSW to our event organiser clients and event patrons,” Mr. Wilson said.
ICC Sydney is a prolific supporter of the NSW wine industry. The venue is a long-standing partner of the NSW Wine Association and recently was recognised in the 2023 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards for its outstanding selection of premium local wines as curated by the venue’s Food and Beverage Manager and Sommelier, William Wilson. Since opening its doors ICC Sydney has sold more than 2,000,000 glasses of wine from New South Wales. William Wilson is a respected sommelier and wine judge and was recently named as a Champion of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
