Rotary Club Kuching announces District Conference 2024 in Kuching

Rotary International District 3310 is delighted to announce the upcoming District Conference (DISCON) 2024, set to take place in the captivating city of Kuching, Sarawak (East Malaysia) from 17-19 May 2024. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Kuching, this event will be held under the theme ‘Celebrating Hope,’ symbolizing the club’s steadfast commitment to its mission of ‘Creating Hope in the World.’

DISCON 2024 promises to be a jubilant congress, providing an opportunity for Rotary members and friends to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the collective efforts to make a positive impact worldwide. Notably, this event serves as an ideal stopover for Rotary members worldwide, strategically positioned just over an hour’s flight away from the upcoming Rotary International Convention in Singapore.

Kuching, known for its magnetic charm and vibrant cultural tapestry, is a perfect setting for DISCON 2024. The pinnacle of the event will be the Governor’s Banquet, promising an unforgettable evening of celebration and camaraderie,” said Dr. John Chan, District Governor of Rotary International District 3310, in a recent press statement.

“As a unique highlight, DISCON 2024 aims to set the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest gathering of people in ethnic wear, culminating in a choreographed dance. This spectacular event will showcase the rich diversity of our nation as well as Rotary members from around the globe and underscore its significance within the Rotary community.”

“In March 2023 the Rotary Club of Kuching announced the adoption of a baby orangutan born in the wild in Sarawak. At DISCON 2024, attendees will have the privilege of witnessing the official naming of the baby orangutan, named Hope, as its birth certificate is signed. This momentous occasion aligns with the Rotary theme for 2023-2024, ‘Create Hope in the World,’ symbolizing the association’s commitment to making a positive impact on the world,” he further added.
