A GRAND CHOICE FOR BUSINESS EVENTS

The imposing building on Koper’s main promenade, which has been turning heads since 1952, has been the home of the Grand Koper Hotel for the past two years. The building, originally designed as an educational edifice by the Italian architect Angiolo Mazzoni, was completed in the post-war period by the Slovenian architect Edo Mihevc, who transformed it into a hotel. Originally called Hotel Triglav, in 2020, the Piščanc family bought and completely revamped it with the help of AKSL architects and industrial designer David Tavčar before renaming it Grand Koper. Shortly after opening, the hotel won the prestigious Big See Design Award for the best interior design. Have you visited the hotel yet?

More than a business hotel

The Grand Koper Hotel is a favoured address among design-savvy travellers and gourmets who wish to wind down. At the same time, the Grand Koper Hotel is a splendid business hotel suitable for boutique events. Many intriguing architectural elements have inspired locals and international guests, including the vast glass surfaces overlooking the sea, aesthetically refined, custom-made designer furniture, and interior and exterior arcades typical of Mazzoni’s architecture. Grand Koper boasts sixty rooms with views of the azure sea or the lively old town of Koper. All rooms and suites are equipped with an LCD TV and include free Wi-Fi internet connection, a tablet, and bathrooms with exclusive hotel cosmetics and a hair dryer. Depending on the room type, the rooms include either a shower or shower and bath. On the ground floor, guests can find the Capra Restaurant, the Caprizza Pizzeria, the Carlo Bar and the Co-working corner. On the first floor, guests can enjoy the Club room for meetings and events. The hotel has its own parking lot and charging station for electric vehicles.

A grand location in the vicinity of Koper’s landmarks

The Grand Koper Hotel boasts an excellent location – close to international airports, city landmarks, the fashionable Trieste and the picturesque coastal hinterland. After a successful business event, attendees can continue socializing by visiting the villages of Koštabone, Padna and Krkavč or exploring the wine fountain in Mareziga. Cycling enthusiasts will be delighted by the many well-maintained cycling routes. The Parenzana seaside route, leading from Koper past the fishing town of Izola to Portorož and all the way to Poreč, is one of the most captivating.

Capra - the grand star of Grand Koper Hotel

First, a restaurant came to life, then a hotel. Since 2014, the ground floor of the Grand Koper Hotel has housed the Capra Restaurant (the Italian word for goat, a symbol of Koper), the best restaurant in Koper, according to TripAdvisor. Although Capra’s culinary team is hailed for their mastery of fish dishes, they are also experts at preparing meat delicacies, including sous vide veal neck from local farms, slowly cooked for 24 hours and seasoned with Mediterranean herbs. On Capra’s expansive wine list, guests will find everything from local Istrian wines to high-end champagnes. Guests can enjoy as many as 36 different wines. Capra does not disappoint even with its desserts, inspired by historical milestones and luminaries from Koper. If you want pizzas made from sourdough topped with authentic Italian ingredients, visit Capra’s sister restaurant, Caprizza, just next door.
