The central meeting point for event organisers in THE region returned to GR – Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre between 21 and 22 February.

February and March are one of the busiest months within the meetings industry, as trade shows, decision makers and event organisers return to meeting venues. GR-Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre again hosted Conventa at the end of February. The central meeting point for event organisers in the so-called region of New Europe returned to the Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre between 21 and 22 February.

This year, 112 exhibitors from 16 countries met with 162 hosted buyers from 31 countries. The venue’s iconic Marble Hall was abuzz with attendees crafting new business connections and networking at the event’s community table and coffee corner. Within the hall, Conventa also set up the Conventa Trend Bar, where industry experts delved into pressing topics, and the organisers hosted a press conference for local and foreign media representatives.

Ljubljana Talks also hosted three industry experts – Tatjana Radovic, Ivo J. Franschitz and Miha Kovačič – in front of an audience that comprised several young talents. Young students also had a chance to meet future employers and learn from industry paragons and doyens. The event thus fostered multiplicative effects for society, aligned with SDG goals.

Sustainable measures at Conventa

In line with the aspirations of Conventa to become carbon-neutral within a decade and a half, the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre helped spread awareness among attendees to manage waste responsibly. They set up posters reminding participants to save water, manage waste and use recyclable cups.

One of Conventa’s standout and iconic sustainability initiatives is its use of locally sourced Slovenian wood for all event stands, a tradition upheld year after year, provided by the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre. By utilising ecological materials from the region, Conventa reduced its carbon footprint and supported the local community.

GR-Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre’s commitment to sustainable transformation is evident in its approach. They recently installed solar panels to produce their own green energy. Such initiatives help make Conventa even more green, making the venue a harbinger of a new era for venues in Slovenia.
