The City Destinations Alliance (CityDNA) recently elected new leadership during their International Conference & General Assembly in Bologna, Italy. CityDNA, the European knowledge-sharing network for cities and urban regions, gathered an international audience of 225 tourism and city marketing professionals to elect both new Board Members and a Treasurer, Vice-President and President.

During the General Assembly, Jurgen Moors was elected as a new Board Member for a mandate of 3 years. Jurgen Moors, originating from the South of the Netherlands, has been leading the Maastricht Convention Bureau as CEO for nearly a decade, alongside past positions in the national Chamber of Commerce. With a career spanning international affairs and cross-border business, he has worked in Japan and Belgium, and for multinational companies in Maastricht and Brussels.

As a member of the Board of CityDNA, Jurgen will continue his dedicated involvement in advancing the interests of city destinations across Europe and introducing innovative approaches to enhance the meetings’ industry agenda. Prior to this esteemed election, Moors had the honour of serving as the Chairman of the CityDNA Meeting Industry Steering Group.

Through the partnership with CityDNA, the Maastricht Convention Bureau team collaborates with tourist boards, convention bureaus and city marketing organizations throughout Europe. Founded in 1984 by the Municipality of Maastricht, the Maastricht Convention Bureau has transitioned since 2015 to a regional focus. It promotes the Maastricht Region as a conference destination, specializing in acquiring international conferences in health and chemistry. Impactful conferences are key to enhancing employability and furthering the development of innovative knowledge hubs within the region. The convention bureau operates independently with a public-private structure, deeply integrated into the local scientific ecosystem. Supported by municipal, and regional governments, and numerous business partners, it boasts over sixty suppliers committed to proactive service and quality in the congress community.
