Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), launched a new direction, sustainability performance and innovation potential for the Thai meetings industry, including new product development for the European market, at IMEX this week.

Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, TCEB President, said that TCEB has set a new direction for the Thai meetings industry. The focus is on cementing collaboration between the Thai meetings industry and industries such as food security, health tech, urban mobility and creative soft power to advance the growth and development of these industries, strengthening the Thai economy and creating new business opportunities.

“The new direction of the Thai meetings industry is partly in response to the government’s vision IGNITE Thailand which aims to position Thailand as a hub of eight industries—tourism, medical and wellness, agriculture and food, aviation, logistics, future mobility, digital economy and finance.”

To advance sustainability performance, the focus is on the decarbonization of events, avoiding carbon emissions and undertaking carbon offset with measurable results. Sustainability and innovation are two key pillars in TCEB’s action plan to drive the Thai meetings industry to be internationally competitive.

To keep up with the evolving needs of the European market, TCEB will feature product development and experience design ideas, maximizing the diversity of the country’s cities and potential destinations. New venues, new function spaces and new attractions are also on the list.

Chiruit stated that Thailand has maintained its leading position as a global destination, with constant development of infrastructure and facilities, which are beneficial for return on investment and return on experience for events.
