The International Energy Agency’s Ocean Energy Systems (IEA-OES) announced that the next edition of the Global Ocean Energy event, ICOE 2026, will take place in The Hague, Netherlands. The announcement was made at this year’s event, held September 17-19 in Melbourne, Australia.

This energy conference, especially focused on wave, tidal, ocean currents, OTEC and salinity gradient technologies, will be organized by the Dutch Energy from Water Association (EWA) in collaboration with partners Campus@Sea, The Hague & Partners, Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), TU Delft, IRO and NedZero.

“The Netherlands, with its rich maritime history and expertise in water management, is a global leader in offshore energy innovation. Positioned at the North Sea, we host pioneering projects in wave, tidal, ocean currents, OTEC and salinity gradient technologies. We look forward to showcasing these innovations to global experts,” says Peter Scheijgrond, CEO of Bluespring and Chairman of EWA.

ICOE is a biennial conference that plays a key role in advancing ocean energies worldwide. It brings together leading professionals, researchers, policymakers, and supply chain experts from across the globe to share the latest research, technologies, and best practices. This global event unites experts from offshore wind, oil and gas, aquaculture, and ocean energy sectors.

“The Hague is an international hub for energy and innovation, with a vibrant ecosystem for collaboration, including our Offshore Test Site just 12 km offshore. We are excited to host ICOE 2026 and demonstrate how our city supports innovative ideas that make a global impact,” Philip Mulder, Senior Policy Officer Impact Economy, Municipality of The Hague.

The conference will include technical sessions, panel discussions, workshops focused on the latest trends and challenges in the offshore industry, and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies. In 2025 more information about the location, dates and topics will be communicated.
