Revamped royal castle for mid-sized events

Borl Castle has been towering over the Drava River in Slovenia for centuries. It was built as early as the 12th century. Due to its strategic location on the Hungarian-Croatian border, it has always played an important role. After it closed its doors in 1980, visitors were rare except for bats. Everything changed in 2020 when they started renovating the castle. This year, the castle opened its doors to visitors as well as event organisers, who can host their events in the luxurious Knight’s Hall.

After the Second World War, in 1951, the castle became a resort known throughout Europe. Borl Castle Resort played a pivotal role in the economy of the joint municipality of Ptuj in the second half of the last century. It is often mentioned as a driver of development in the hospitality industry. The former resort experienced its greatest growth in the 1960s, mainly due to the opening of a new swimming pool. The castle is also a cultural monument of national significance.

Renovated castle complex for your event

Part of the castle complex was restored and reopened this year after more than thirty years. The castle is decorated with a spacious courtyard, a chapel from the 17th century and a restored knight’s hall. The courtyards, surroundings and knight’s hall are also suitable for organising MICE events. The Knight’s Hall has 250 seats, while the outer courtyard can host 400 guests. The town of Borl regularly includes local culinary providers in its offer, helping to strengthen the local community and the region’s recognition.
