This collection features independent mid-range hotels with a unique design concept. The selected hotels appear brand-independent externally but benefit from the marketing and sales strength of the global group, its well-known brand family Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and the worldwide loyalty program Best Western Rewards.
The hotel operator of the Wellness & National Park Hotel Schliffkopf is ELOS Hospitality GmbH, managed by Elmar Lutzenberger and Oliver Schreiber, who also runs the traditional hotel Das Palmenwald Schwarzwaldhof in Freudenstadt as a BW Signature Collection by Best Western property.
“We have had very good experiences with the brand partnership with BWH Hotels at our hotel Das Palmenwald in Freudenstadt. Now we want to benefit from the global marketing and sales power as well as the Best Western Rewards customer loyalty program for our second hotel in the Black Forest,” explains Oliver Schreiber, CEO of ELOS Hospitality GmbH.
“With the Wellness & National Park Hotel Schliffkopf in Baiersbronn, we are gaining an extraordinary hotel in one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Germany. Its location in the middle of the national park makes it attractive to holiday guests all year round. We have been working with Oliver Schreiber as a hotel partner for many years and are proud that he has now entrusted us with a second hotel for marketing,” explains Marcus Smola, CEO of BWH Hotels Central Europe GmbH.
By joining the international hotel group and its marketing activities, the four-star superior hotel in the High Black Forest will become even more well-known to an international audience. “We took over the Hotel Schliffkopf as new owners and operators two years ago and were immediately fascinated by its location as the only hotel in the national park. Through the brand partnership, we are increasing the global visibility of the hotel and the entire region,” explains Oliver Schreiber. Since the takeover of the hotel by the new owner and operator, several areas of the hotel have received a facelift. In addition, extensive sustainability measures have been implemented. A high investment has been spent on renovations and technological innovations, such as the renewal of the heating system and the water treatment plant, as well as the modernization of the in-house sewage treatment plant.
Hotel Schliffkopf is located at an altitude of 1,025 meters and is the only hotel in the Black Forest National Park. Guests can choose from 68 rooms and suites in various categories. The hotel offers a large wellness area with various indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, a mountain spa, and a fitness area. Culinary offerings at the Wellness & National Park Hotel include a restaurant, a bistro, a lounge, and a bar in classic Black Forest chic. In the bar, guests can enjoy a 180-degree panoramic view over the Swabian Alps and the Rhine plain while enjoying a wide selection of cocktails. The Hotel Schliffkopf also offers an exclusive conference room for seminars or board meetings for up to 25 people.
The hotel’s wellness area includes an indoor swimming pool, a sauna area, the so-called BergSpa (mountain spa), and an outdoor swimming pool. The outdoor pool impresses with a counter-current system, offering athletic swimming and relaxation opportunities. The sauna area complements the hotel’s wellness facilities with two Finnish saunas, a sanarium, a crystal steam bath, and a relaxation area. In the BergSpa, a wide range of treatments can be booked: from massages with Swiss pine wood, treatments with aromatic oils and hot stones, to foot reflexology, cosmetic treatments such as manicures and pedicures, and relaxation rituals in the in-house hammam. The sports area is equipped with a variety of devices from the renowned brand Techno Gym.
The Wellness & National Park Hotel Schliffkopf is exemplary in terms of sustainability. During the last renovation phase, the heating system was modernized to operate resource-efficiently. The control of the in-house drinking water treatment, which is sourced from the nearby Murg spring, was also digitized. In terms of wastewater disposal, the hotel takes its own path by treating all wastewater streams in an in-house facility and disposing of them in an environmentally friendly manner. Strengthening the hotel’s self-sufficiency is on the agenda for the coming years. An important step in this direction is the ongoing certification of the hotel as a GreenSign Hotel.
