FOLLOW THE BUZZ OF THE BEES
Twenty minutes from Ljubljana, a bee house recently opened its doors to share the story of the Slovenian domestic Carniolan Bee. The exhibition’s virtual heroes are from Višnja Gora and the famous Rothschütz beekeeping family, which elevated the Carniolan honey bee into an independent subspecies.
Multimedia stories open the doors of the bee world. Actual bee hives made of glass with bees are a unique experience for visitors. The museum also doubles as a one-off accommodation: its rooms are designed as innovative honeycomb cells with individual entrances. They are connected to an enormous honeycomb wooden structure. Social corners often buzz like a real bee house. Guests and visitors can enjoy the 360-degree view of Višnja Gora during their stay.
The Carniolan Bee gained world fame thanks to the first great bee entrepreneur and innovator in the region, Baron Emil Rothschütz. Today, the House hosts contemporary innovators, connects the local community, and invites visitors from around the world. Event organisers can also host their events here, thanks to the Café on the ground floor. They can incorporate in-house catering into their event, with a curated selection of drinks and homemade delicacies from honey, either inside or in the outdoor garden.
Innovation hub
The ApiLab Innovation Technology Centre within the Carniolan Bee House is a business epicentre for the local community and the region. It is a bridge between heritage, tradition and innovative economy. It is a space for developing new ideas and success stories.
