On 14 May, Falstaff Slovakia celebrated the cuisine, wine and natural beauty of Slovakia at a gala evening held at the Grand Hotel River Park in Bratislava. The ceremony honouring the inaugural Falstaff Slovakia magazine welcomed over 400 VIP guests who could hear all about the new Falstaff lifestyle magazine, introducing the latest Slovak food, wine and travel to the world.

The magazine, originating in Austria in 1980, entered the Slovak market at the beginning of March 2025. The evening was opened by presenter Vera Wisterová and Falstaff publisher Wolfgang Rosam, joined by Patrik Tkáč, CEO of J&T Banka, Radoslav Nackin, publisher of Falstaff Slovakia, and Falstaff Slovakia editor-in-chief Elena Strápková to proudly present the latest Slovak food, wine, travel and lifestyle magazine – a gateway to the wide world of gastronomy that also celebrates local excellence.

“We can now transfer our philosophy of gourmetism to the international stage and let Europe know that Slovakia also has quality restaurants, an innovative approach to gastronomy, talented chefs, excellent winemakers and a country that offers travel experiences. The Slovak gastronomical scene and the people who work in it also deserve international recognition, and we will try to convey it through our magazine,” said Radoslav Nackin, CEO of Pre gurmanov MEDIA.

Shining a light on top Slovakian gastronomy

Falstaff is the only comprehensive gourmet lifestyle magazine that is published year-round. It will be published monthly in Europe and quarterly in Slovakia. The first issue focuses on the Little Carpathians region. This area is one of the most famous, especially when it comes to wine, but also gastronomy.

Patrik Tkáč mentioned how crucial it is for Slovakia to gain a foothold on the gastronomical world map: “Not many people write about us in the world. And thanks to this cooperation, that will definitely change. I hope that it will not only bring Slovakia closer to Western countries that are important for our tourism. I also hope it will become a voice for our people working in gastronomy, winemaking, and hospitality throughout Slovakia. They do not get the credit they deserve.”

“With Falstaff Slovakia, we are setting a new standard for food journalism in the region. Working with Pre gurmanov MEDIA allows us to leverage local expertise while maintaining the high standards that have made Falstaff a leading international brand,” noted Wolfgang Rosam, Publisher and CEO of Falstaff.

Falstaff Guide App

The magazine also includes a dedicated guide, bringing a diverse list of bars, restaurants, hotels, wineries, and cafes that are worth a visit for every epicurean. The philosophy of Falstaff is that guests pass on their experiences to other guests. This creates a unique community of gourmets, winemakers, and travellers. Members of the Falstaff Gourmet Club can rate the restaurants they visit via the Falstaff app and actively create a ranking of the best.

The best Slovakian restaurants and chefs

For 22 years, the best restaurants, chefs and sommeliers have been awarded through the Gurmán magazine in Slovakia, the brainchild of Radoslav Nackin. Falstaff embodies the same philosophy and also awards the best every year. After the christening of the first issue of the Falstaff Slovakia magazine, a grand award ceremony for 2024 followed. The first edition includes 80 restaurants, evaluated by a combination of visits by expert editors and online votes from guests who visited the restaurants by the end of March 2025.
