Ljubljana is set to gain a new luxury hotel as part of the large-scale Emonika development rising near the city’s main railway station. This five-star gem will anchor a vibrant mixed-use complex that is breathing new life into the heart of Slovenia’s busiest transport hub. Set in the southern section of the Emonika complex, the hotel will stand beside a soaring 100-metre office tower, a bustling shopping centre and expansive underground parking. Project plans reveal a dynamic urban hub, featuring over 22,000 square metres of retail, sleek office spaces, modern residences and two distinctive hotels.

A renowned Spanish hospitality group, Eurostars Hotels, is set to manage the luxury hotel, adding a cosmopolitan flair to the project’s international appeal. Developed by Mendota Invest, owned by Hungary’s OTP Group, Emonika stands as one of Slovenia’s most significant real-estate ventures in progress.

A premium hospitality experience in Ljubljana

Construction on the southern section is set to break ground soon, with completion targeted for 2027. Developers hail this phase as the architectural crown jewel of Emonika, aiming to transform the once-overlooked area around Ljubljana’s central station into a vibrant, contemporary urban district.

According to Mendota Invest director Pál Forgács, the agreement with Grupo Hotusa and the Eurostars brand represents another major milestone for the project and further confirms the vision of creating a modern urban centre in the heart of Ljubljana. “The five-star Eurostars hotel will further enhance the project’s international appeal and help position Ljubljana as an increasingly important destination for both business travellers and tourists,” he said.

Amancio López Seijas, chairman of Grupo Hotusa, described the partnership as an excellent opportunity to strengthen the hotel group’s presence in Central Europe and to become part of one of the most significant new urban development projects in the Slovenian capital. “Ljubljana is a destination with tremendous growth potential in both business and leisure tourism, and the new Eurostars hotel will offer a premium hospitality experience in an exceptional location in the city centre,” he added.

The wider Emonika complex will include 187 residential units, approximately 35,000 square metres of office space, a shopping centre and more than 380 hotel rooms across two hotels. One of the hotels has already been confirmed as the first Slovenian property under Accor’s TRIBE lifestyle brand, scheduled to open by the end of 2027.
