A family-affair hotel that once provided a haven for weary travellers between Vienna and Trieste is today a recognised hotel with sustainable cuisine and a range of event capacities. Kongres Magazine zigzagged through the Ljubljana Marshes to Hotel Pok to see what sets it apart. A short drive from the capital, the venue is easy to reach while remaining comfortably removed from the city’s bustle. Far from a stopover pub for waggoners, as it once was, the hotel is now a modern event venue doubling as a sought-after restaurant renowned for its meat delicacies.
For corporate events, Hotel Pok features a dedicated conference house adjacent to the main building. The 45-square-metre venue accommodates between 10 and 40 participants and includes modern technical equipment, a private bar, terrace access and a lush lawn for outdoor activities. Large windows flood the space with natural light, while full blackout capability enables presentations, workshops, and training sessions under optimal conditions.
A sunlit pavilion and terrace await receptions, presentations, press launches, and intimate celebrations for up to 40 guests. For grander or more relaxed occasions, the sweeping green lawns behind the hotel invite team-building, picnics, networking, and creative outdoor workshops.

A family affair spanning three decades
Beyond its event facilities, Hotel Pok carries more than three centuries of hospitality tradition. Historically located on the old route connecting Vienna and Trieste, the property has welcomed travellers for generations. Today, traces of this heritage remain woven into the hotel’s character, from its architecture and interior details to its emphasis on authentic local experiences.
A particularly intriguing piece of local lore is the hotel’s famed “Napoleon Room”, named after the tradition that Napoleon and his generals once stayed at the property during their travels through the region. Whether history or legend, the story adds another layer of personality to an already distinctive venue.

Combined with locally inspired cuisine, boutique accommodation and the natural beauty of the nearby UNESCO-listed Ljubljansko Barje landscape, Hotel Pok offers far more than a meeting room, but an oasis of boutique peace.
