Tucked away on the spectacular Tihany Peninsula overlooking Lake Balaton, this unique venue combines a modern visitor centre, working lavender distillery, interactive exhibition spaces and immersive workshops. Event organisers who want to imbue their events in Hungary with a natural and fragrant ambience should look no further.
Lavender Tihany represents the continuation of a nearly century-old tradition. The first lavender plantations appeared on the peninsula in 1924, while a lavender distillery operated here from the 1930s. Following a hiatus of almost seventy years, the tradition was revived in 2019 with the opening of a modern distillery near the original site.
Fragrant events on Lake Balaton
At the heart of the complex is one of Hungary’s most modern lavender distilleries, where visitors can observe the transformation of freshly harvested lavender into high-purity essential oils. The visitor centre also houses an exhibition dedicated to the history of lavender cultivation in Tihany, as well as demonstration laboratories where natural cosmetics are developed and produced.
Corporate groups can participate in guided tours that explore the history of lavender cultivation, the distillation process, and the production of natural cosmetics. Depending on the programme selected, experiences can be enhanced with lavender rosé, tea tastings, syrup tastings and locally inspired gastronomic offerings. The venue also offers hands-on workshops where participants create their own cosmetic products using locally produced lavender ingredients.
Even though the venue is not optimal for traditional conferences, it offers a perfect setting for experience-driven events. It can host product launches, client entertainment programmes and team-building events where authenticity and local storytelling matter more than large-scale meeting infrastructure.
