DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Bologna was once crossed by an extensive network of canals? Hidden beneath the streets for centuries, the city’s waterways played an important role in its economic and industrial development. Today, traces of this aquatic past can still be discovered in unexpected corners of the historic centre, including the famous “Finestrella” window overlooking one of the canals and the canal along Via Riva di Reno. Throughout the year, guided tours offer visitors the chance to explore this lesser-known side of Bologna, discovering how water once flowed through the heart of the city and shaped its history.

BEST INCENTIVE IDEA IN 2026

Bologna offers incentive experiences deeply rooted in the destination’s identity and heritage. One of the most distinctive options is exploring the Motor Valley, with experiences ranging from test drives to visits and activities with historic automotive brands such as Ducati and Lamborghini.

Food is another natural choice, with hands-on experiences centred around traditional pasta making, tortellini and gelato.

For groups looking to combine team building with the outdoors, Bologna also offers access to the surrounding hills and the wider Emilia-Romagna landscape, providing opportunities for active experiences immersed in nature. From engines to handmade pasta, Bologna offers plenty of ways to turn its local identity into a memorable group experience.

PERFECT GIFT

The perfect gift to take home from Bologna should capture the city’s renowned food culture. Traditional tortellini and fresh pasta are an obvious choice, offering a taste of one of Bologna’s most iconic culinary traditions. Mortadella makes another unmistakably local souvenir, while authentic balsamic vinegar from the wider Emilia-Romagna region is another popular choice. Whether it is a carefully packaged food product or something you buy after a hands-on pasta-making experience, a culinary gift is a simple way to bring a small piece of Bologna home.
