World heritage and tourism innovations
Under the framework of the UNESCO UNITWIN Network for Culture, Tourism and Development, the 7th International Scientific Conference on “World Heritage and Tourism Innovations” is taking place in Portorož. The conference is co-organised by Toleranca Marketing.
The three-day international conference will bring together world-renowned experts from UNESCO organisations worldwide and international researchers to compare their views and seek responses to the challenges of combining cultural heritage and tourism in a changing world.
During the first day, the speakers emphasised that tourism and world heritage have traditionally gone hand in hand; however, new global challenges require meeting planners to develop tourism with new knowledge that enables heritage to be safely integrated and adequately valued.
The conference will be attended by 150 participants over three days, who will hear three plenary debates, two round tables and three thematic segments. The conference program is designed in the form of presentations, plenary debates and workshops. In addition to Piran, the attendees will visit the Škocjan Caves and the newly listed UNESCO sites of Plečnik’s Heritage in Ljubljana as part of the accompanying activities that will present Slovenia’s cultural heritage.
