Revived baroque castle
One of Slovenia’s preeminent examples of baroque-style castles, the Podčetetek Castle, is slated to welcome its first guests in August. The castle fell into decay after the Second World War but was thoroughly renovated after decades of neglect. It will double as a museum and event venue.
Visitors can look forward to an interactive journey across the castle’s history, while event organisers can already place the castle on their map of unique event venues. On the terrace of the castle, overlooking Podčetrtek and its surroundings, they will offer in-house catering. The imposing castle got its name from the fourth day of the week when the court and market day took place on the square under the castle’s rule.

The mayor of Podčetrtek, Peter Misja, commented on the importance of the opening for the destination: “The castle is opening in August. This will surely make it one of the main tourist attractions of the destination. In addition to the digitalised museum, the castle will offer the possibility of weddings, events and catering on the castle’s terrace, which has a wonderful view of Podčetrtek and the surrounding area. We are doing everything to ensure the entire municipality is ready to offer everything that tourism needs.“
