The five-star Fairmont Golden Prague has become the first and only hotel in the Czech Republic to receive two MICHELIN Keys, as part of the new global MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection honouring the world’s best hotels. This historic first edition of the MICHELIN Key Selection was published on October 8, 2025, marking a brand-new era in hotel evaluation.
MICHELIN Keys – A new symbol of excellence in global hospitality
For over a century, MICHELIN Stars have set the standard in global gastronomy. Now, the MICHELIN Guide expands its reach into the world of hospitality. MICHELIN Keys are the hotel equivalent of stars — an award that highlights the most exceptional places to stay around the globe.
The recognition is granted by independent MICHELIN inspectors based on five universal criteria:
– Quality and consistency of service
– Architecture and interior design
– Authenticity and character of the property
– Value of the stay
– The hotel’s overall ability to deliver an experience that exceeds guest expectations
Hotels may be awarded one to three MICHELIN Keys. In this year’s global selection, more than 2,400 hotels worldwide were recognised, with Fairmont Golden Prague among just 572 properties to receive two MICHELIN Keys. This distinction honours a hotel of exceptional character, a strong sense of place, and outstanding service.
In the Czech Republic, ten hotels received one MICHELIN Key, while Fairmont Golden Prague remains the only hotel to be awarded two Keys.

Fairmont Golden Prague – An Architectural Icon and a New Symbol of Prague’s Luxury
Following an extensive renovation, Fairmont Golden Prague reopened in 2025 as an exceptional example of blending historic architecture with modern luxury. Located in the heart of Prague at the entrance to Pařížská Street, the hotel builds on the legacy of the original legendary brutalist structure from the 1970s, designed by architect Karel Filsak.
The sensitive renovation was led by Marek Tichý and his team from TaK Architects, who preserved the building’s original architectural character while enhancing it with contemporary design, art, and openness to the city. Today, the hotel offers 297 rooms and suites, six restaurants and bars, a Fairmont Spa & Wellness featuring a unique indoor-outdoor pool, and generous conference facilities. Soon, it will also introduce 23 serviced residences.
The hotel’s culinary crown jewel is Zlatá Praha restaurant, led by Chef de Cuisine Maroš Jambor, which has become a new symbol of fine dining in Prague. In contrast, Greenhouse and Kafka Brasserie connect the hotel with the city, inviting locals to enjoy casual dining. For an unforgettable evening experience, the Golden Eye bar on the top floor offers a vibrant lounge atmosphere with panoramic views of Prague.
“Receiving two MICHELIN Keys is a tremendous honour and a confirmation that we’ve succeeded in creating a hotel that is as exceptional for global travellers as it is for Prague itself. Fairmont Golden Prague is not just a place to stay — it’s an experience that blends history, architecture, art, and top-tier service,” says Gerhard Struger, Managing Director of the hotel.
With this recognition, Fairmont Golden Prague becomes the only hotel in the Czech Republic to hold two MICHELIN Keys, placing it among the world’s most distinguished hotels that define contemporary luxury, authenticity, and service excellence.
