AN URBAN EPICENTRE OF YOUTH CREATIVITY

Youth Centre BAZA recently opened its doors within the renovated Cukrarna Palace. The building was originally constructed in 1828 as part of the wider Cukrarna complex, while the latest renovation carefully preserved its architectural heritage and status as a monument of local importance. The contemporary multi-purpose venue goes far beyond the traditional concept of a youth centre, ambitiously positioning itself as a driving force for ideas, innovation and community.

2,000 square metres of creativity

Youth Centre BAZA is the largest centre of its kind in Slovenia. Spread across approximately 2,000 square metres over four floors, it offers a comprehensive ecosystem for socialising, learning, working and creativity. Particular added value is provided by the digital and media hub, where young people can develop projects in modern technologies, experiment with creative content, and share their ideas through a podcast radio platform.

The venue gains an additional dimension through its coworking zone, designed for studying and work, as well as its urban incubator, which enables young people to develop their own initiatives and connect directly with the public sector, NGOs and the business community.

Event organisers are also welcome at this new venue, which can accommodate up to 150 guests. Youth Centre BAZA additionally offers guided tours, allowing visitors to learn more about the venue and its purpose.

At the opening of Youth Centre BAZA, Zoran Janković stated that young people “do not have a facility like this anywhere else in Europe.” “Dear young people, be proud of this building. It belongs to you: take care of it and enrich it with your own ideas, soul and heart,” the mayor said.

Located on the ground floor of Youth Centre BAZA is the central social hub, Café BAZA, where event organisers can host informal gatherings and smaller conferences. The café is conceived as an alcohol-free training café, designed to provide young people with practical work experience while helping them develop professional and employment skills.
