At today’s published ICCA 2014 Country & City Rankings, Serbia marks its all-time high with 67 international association meetings. This is the fourth year in a row that Serbia is among the world’s TOP 50 destinations in the world (46th place in 2014 Rankings), measured by the number of international association meetings.

ICCA Country and City Rankings is one of the most eagerly anticipated industry publications and one of the very few reports which compare destinations’ meetings-related performance on a global scale. [pullquote]Belgrade, the country’s capital, is ranked 50th together with Montreal which has the same number of meetings – 50, and being surpassed only by a few meetings by such places as New York City, Oslo and Washington. [/pullquote] The meetings obtained in this database are international association meetings which meet the following strict criteria of: 1) being attended by at least 50 participants; 2) organised on a regular basis (one-time events are not included); and 3) move between at least 3 different countries. Novi Sad, Serbia’s second largest city and congress destination, shares 289th place with several other destinations that have booked 7 meetings in 2014. Regional cities at the same level with plus/minus one meeting are Sarajevo and Split.

Since the establishment of Serbia Convention Bureau in 2007, the country has seen a big boost in the MICE industry, making business-related travel one of the most lucrative and important sectors for the overall image of the country. Adding to the destination’s strength are the large number of recent hotel openings and a new national carrier Air Serbia with its ever-growing network of direct flights. Serbia Convention Bureau, together with partners from the industry, will present Serbia’s MICE offer and welcome you to Serbia Destination stand E010 at IMEX 2015 Show to be held in Frankfurt from 19 to 21 May.
