Tokyo poised to host six conferences through 2029

These events are expected to attract up to 19,000 delegates

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) have confirmed six international conferences to be held in Tokyo between 2027 and 2029. The events span oncology nursing, gynecologic oncology, computer graphics, intelligent transportation systems, software engineering, and hand surgery.

The confirmed line-up:

AONS & ISNCC 2027 — Asian Oncology Nursing Society / International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care conference. August 5–7, 2027. Ariake Central Tower Hall & Conference. Approx. 1,050 delegates, including 350 from overseas.

IGCS 2027 — International Gynecologic Cancer Society Annual Global Meeting. November 4–6, 2027. Tokyo International Forum. Approx. 4,000 delegates, including 1,500 from overseas.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2027 — ACM SIGGRAPH’s regional conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques. November 30–December 3, 2027. Tokyo International Forum. Approx. 10,000 delegates, including 2,400 from overseas.

IEEE ITSC 2028 — IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems. September 12–15, 2028. TAKANAWA GATEWAY Convention Center. Approx. 1,000 delegates, including 700 from overseas.

ICSE 2029 — 51st International Conference on Software Engineering, jointly organised by IEEE Computer Society and the Association for Computing Machinery. April 22–28, 2029. Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba. Approx. 2,000 delegates, including 1,500 from overseas.

APFSSH 2029 — Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand meeting. September 1–4, 2029. Keio Plaza Hotel. Approx. 1,100 delegates, including 600 from overseas.

Some 19,000 delegates set to join the events

These events are expected to attract up to 19,000 delegates, including 7,000 from overseas. The wins add measurable scale to a position Tokyo already holds among the world’s most active destinations for international association meetings. As recently announced by TCVB, Tokyo ranked 10th globally and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific region in the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) 2025 City Rankings, matching its highest position on record, with 119 eligible conferences hosted in 2025.

The six wins also divide evenly between two sectors: technology and engineering (SIGGRAPH Asia, IEEE ITSC, ICSE) and healthcare and life sciences (AONS & ISNCC, IGCS, APFSSH). That split lines up with an area of established strength for Tokyo: the city ranked 2nd globally in the technology category in ICCA’s 2025 rankings. These three healthcare-sector wins add further depth in life sciences and medical meetings, a segment where Tokyo’s presence continues to grow.
