Hotel Adriatic, Rovinj

Maistra’s boutique Adriatic Hotel welcomed its first guests today after a comprehensive renovation that lasted for six months.

The Adriatic Hotel represents the latest luxury product in the tourist offer of Istria. At the same time, it is the most important investment of Maistra this year, worth HRK 30 million (4 million Euros). In the past several years Maistra has enriched the tourist offer of the Rovinj-Vrsar destination with top-quality Monte Mulini and Lone hotels.

“With almost HRK 3 billion invested to date, we plan to invest an additional HRK 1.4 billion in the following period so that more than 95% of our hotel facilities reach four and five stars by 2017. This year alone, we plan to invest more than HRK 150 million, while the largest investment so far has been the renovation of the Adriatic Hotel”, said Tomislav Popović, Chairman of Maistra’s Management Board and Member of the Management Board of Adris Group, adding that 20 additional staff were hired with the opening of the Adriatic Hotel.

TOWN' S PEARL

The building of the centennial Adriatic Hotel, one of the most recognisable structures in Rovinj, is extremely important for the identity of the town. The true beginnings of organised tourism in Rovinj are tied precisely to this hotel. The hotel is located in the urban fabric of the town of Rovinj, the old town centre that was declared a cultural monument already in 1963. The works that began in January this year aimed to preserve all the values and the old spirit of the hotel. The façade thus kept its authentic look from 1913, while comprehensive interventions in the interior expanded the surface area and reduced the number of accommodation units from 27 to only 18, thereby increasing the quality of the accommodation and service.

Works of art by local and regional artists dominate the hotel interior, while additional facilities on the ground floor of the hotel include the Brasserie Adriatic à la carte restaurant, with a menu inspired by the French Riviera, and a bar with the largest selection of whiskeys in Croatia.

THE TEAM

The new boutique hotel has an impressive and unique collection of over a hundred works of art designed and created especially for this hotel by the artists Abdelkader Benchamma, Jasmina Cibic, Igor Eškinja, Chris Goennawein, Kristina Lenard, Federico Luger, Charles Munka, Goran Petercol, Valentin Ruhry, Sofija Silvia, Saša Šekoranja, Massimo Uberti, Zlatan Vehabović and Žižić/Kožul. The listed artists are world-renowned, and their works have been exhibited in and auctioned for prestigious museums, foundations and collections across the world (the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation in Milan, MAXXI in Rome, Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna, Vehbi Koç Foundation in Istanbul, Drawing Center and PS1 in New York, Lauba House in Zagreb, Modern & Contemporary Art Museum in Rijeka…).

The project has been entrusted to the Studio 3LHD architectural firm. The interior was designed by Studio Franić/Šekoranja and 3LHD, along with Vanja Žanko, an art curator. Lana Cavar, a graphic designer, designed the visual identity, while the designers from the I-gle Studio designed the staff uniforms.
