Ljubljana is often mentioned as a boutique city. Small and boutique are also the Ljubljanica River which winds through the city and the romantic boats sailing down the river.

About 20 years ago, the social life in Ljubljana started to migrate to the restaurant gardens and the embankment of the Ljubljanica River. Today the lively happening has been extended to the river itself. The renewed embankment and mini ports just call for activities on the water.

The late summer afternoons attract kayakers and standup paddle boarders who peacefully sail along with the tourist boats that take you through the city center or continue to unpopulated and mystic Ljubljana moors.

Ideas on how to take advantage of the river do not run out. This time we went on a culinary adventure. We embarked the Ljubljanica boat where while sailing our taste buds were pampered by the Kaval Group’s chef extraordinaire Igor Jagodic, the main chef at the Restaurant Strelec located at Ljubljana Caste. During the two-hour voyage on the river in front of the guests, Igor prepared a 5-course menu with selected dishes and Slovenian wines.

A one-of-a-kind experience with the views of the Ljubljana sights from another perspective can be tried out in all seasons. Culinary adventure on the river is interesting for those who are already familiar with Ljubljana as well as for those who come to Ljubljana as business guests or conference attendees.
