From 19th to 21st September 2016 Portorož hosted the 25th International Electrotechnical and Computer Science Conference ERK 2016. The conference, organized by the IEEE Slovenia Section together with Faculty of Electrical Engineering University of Ljubljana and other Slovenian professional societies was held in a beautiful coastal Congress Center Bernardin, Slovenia.

Conference started with a grand opening and lectures by Uroš Salobir from company ELES, which was also a sponsor of this year’s conference and Alberto Tessarolo from the University of Trieste.

At the gala dinner, they declared the winners of the student contributions Slovenian Section IEEE, who is also the choice of Slovenian representatives for the Student Competition of the IEEE Region 8, which comprises Europe, Africa, Asia excluding Far East. In three days of interesting lectures ERK 2016 hosted invited international speakers, presentations from industry, workshops, student projects and annual IEEE Slovenia Section student paper competition.

The Conference was bilingual, so presentations were in English and Slovenian and covered topics were electronics, computer science, telecommunications, pattern recognition, automatic control and robotics, biomedical engineering and many more.
