IN A QUEST TO MAKE A GREAT BEER
Pelicon Brewery is a craft brewery located in the heart of Vipava Valley, a town called Ajdovščina. They love to drink the beer they brew and along the way, spread their enthusiasm for great beer among others. Their brewery sent its first beer out in 2013 and now they have been awarded with the “best Slovenian craft brewer” award. Their mission is to continue to produce beer that excites people.

Q: When did the love for beer started and why did you decided to start brewing?
As any great love, our love for beer started the second we tasted real beer for the first time. It set us up for a quest to find great beer around the world but in the end it was the same quest that made us open a small brewery in our hometown Ajdovščina.
Q: If someone would like to start brewing, what would be your advice?
Today it is very easy to start brewing. You can find many starting kits and workshops around Slovenia and pretty much anywhere near and far. We would suggest to gather a group of friends and just give it a go. Fun guaranteed!
Q: Do you have a favorite beer at the moment? Yours and someone else’s?
Beer is in many cases like music. You can listen to one song the entire day, but next time you are more keen for a great playlist. So the choice depends much on the mood, season or purpose. At the moment we are developing new recipes for 2017 and we are in research mode, we are trying different things. And since the weather is very cold we often opt for Pelicon Coffee Stout to warm up with its 8 % ABV.
Q: What is the main difference between craft beer lovers and wine lovers?
There is no profound difference. The difference is the beverage that got them together. But the purpose in both groups is the same — to appreciate quality and craftsmanship of a brewer or winemaker and to enjoy the product. In many cases same people enjoy both.
