Valamar Rivera, leading tourism group in Croatia, launched two resorts in Rabac, a major tourist resort on the eastern coast of the Istrian peninsula. Valamar Rivera invested 560 million HRK (over 75 million euros) in Family Life Bellevue Resort 4* and Valamar Girandella Resort 4*/5*, which represents the biggest investment in Croatian tourism in this year. 2017 is a year of the largest investment boom in Croatia in last 20 years, with 40 new hotel openings and 800 million EUR investment.
Croatian Minister of Tourism Gari Cappelli said that the two resorts are very important both for tourism in Rabac and Istria, that experienced a record number of overnight stays in 2016. This is expanding Croatia’s offer of quality services with capabilities of 2700 guests daily. With 60 % of objects with 4 or 5 stars, the tourist season can prolong for a month and Croatia can start talking about tourism year, not only tourism season.
It is expected that more than 100.000 guests will visit Rabac in next three years. With Rabac Open Air Festival bringing open air cinema, street performers, interactive theatre and street musicians to the town, the city is bringing fun to all generations.
Local economy boost
130 companies from all over Croatia worked on the resorts and as Mr. Željko Kukurin, CEO of Valamar Riviera said that Rabac is a positive example of how an investment in tourism impacts the economy and employment. 600 people worked on the resort and opening of the resort created a demand for 350 new jobs.
