The renowned Hotel Lev was opened in 1964 on the site of the former Inn Pri Levu (‘At the Lion’), from which the hotel took its name. In the period from 1995-1999, the hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation and became a 5-star category hotel. Following the renovation and subsequent re-opening, Hotel Lev became the first international five-star hotel in Slovenia. From 1999 until the beginning of 2001 the hotel was a part of the international InterContinental chain and was renamed ‘Hotel Lev InterContinental Ljubljana’.

In the year 2000, an extension was added to the hotel, where the conference centre is located. It is no wonder that then it was the largest hotel with a conference centre in Ljubljana.

Back then, as is still the case nowadays, Hotel Lev became a temporary home to many famous guests. In the past, it has hosted the writer Agatha Christie, American actor Orson Welles, outstanding musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Janet Jackson, Bob Dylan, Sting, Luciano Pavarotti, Josipa Lisac, Eros Ramazzotti, Seal, 50 Cent, and the model Claudia Schiffer. Josip Broz Tito and his wife were also frequent guests, while the hotel even hosted the Apollo 5 astronaut team! The list could go on and on since other renowned guests have been a part of the history of the hotel, which is looking forward to new challenges – nowadays under the wings of Union Hotels.

While on a business trip in Ljubljana, be sure to book a stay at Hotel Lev where each guest is made to feel like a star!
