Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) embarked on the organisation’s seventh Korea Sales Mission to further promote Malaysia as Asia’s Business Events Hub and is joined by a new participant as part of the entourage, namely the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).
Geared with new ideas and product offerings to continuously seal Malaysia as the destination of choice, Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB said that Korea is the third largest inbound market for corporate meetings and incentive groups for Malaysia and represents 6.32 percent of corporate meetings and incentive market as of 2017.
This year, Team Malaysia’s new addition to the entourage has made a bigger impact on the mission. Datuk Zulkefli commented, “This year, we are elated for the first-time partner joining our trip, the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB). As the partnership grows and the team gets bigger, we believe it would further strengthen our connection to tap on opportunities from the state’s growing business events market.”
According to Mr. Ashwin Gunasekeran, Chief Executive Officer of PCEB, “MyCEB is known to have the national agenda at heart and has been doing a commendable job in promoting Malaysia. Where we come in is to support by taking on the role to promote Penang. Not only our presence compliments the entourage, but I believe it makes a holistic effort.”
True to the Malaysian ‘makan’ (eat) culture, three dinner sessions were hosted during the trip to address various key players. On the first night, MyCEB and PCEB co-hosted a dinner with Seoul-based MICE agent, Hana Tour. The dinner was attended by 50 diners for a purposeful networking session. The ‘makan’ continued with MyCEB hosting an appreciation dinner, exclusively for 100 meeting planners, MICE agents, hotel and airline partners in Seoul. The objective of the second makan session is to continue updating attendees of new products and offerings.
The Bureau also extended the Malaysian hospitality through a lucky draw which offered a 4 days-3 nights Free & Easy Trip to Kuala Lumpur. Wrapping up the ‘makan’ session on the third night with PCEB, Datuk Zulkelfi said, “Our final dinner session welcomed 20 clients who have organised trips to Malaysia. There is no better form to thank all who have supported us, than through the Malaysian way of graciously feeding our counterparts!”
As part of its strategy to expand the corporate and incentive market in Korea, MyCEB continued to roll out its popular Malaysia Twin Deal XP (MTDXP). Under the campaign themed “Malaysia Like Never Before”, the MTDXP is an enhanced version of the MTD programme.
