As the great Albert Einstein said, “If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.” So we should take good care of the bees. Therefore the UN General Assembly accepted Slovenia’s initiative to declare the 20th May, the day Slovenian beekeeper Anton Janša was born, as a World Bee Day. The initiative was launched in 2014 by the Slovenian Beekeeping Association as a way of highlighting the role of honeybees in agriculture and in order to celebrate bees, which are increasingly becoming a national symbol.

With the aim to prove that sustainability, corporate social responsibility and luxury go hand in hand very well, as well as to implement the bee story into several hotel outlets and activities together with invited partners, the Intercontinental introduced the BEE Initiative. With the initiative, they will help to raise awareness about the importance of bees, as well as other pollinators, and help drive the measures to ensure bees’ survival for the benefit of all humankind.
