SPECIAL VENUE: The only arena stage in the country

Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana boasts the only arena stage in Slovenia. The Štih Hall (Štihova dvorana) takes its name after a Slovenian literary critic, essayist, stage director, and editor, Bojan Štih (1923–1986), one of the most influential figures of modern Slovenian theatre after 1945 and author of various plays.

Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana and its Štih Hall is located right in the heart of Ljubljana, with an easy and comfortable access to any of Slovenia’s capital sightseeings as well as important buildings and locations.

The hall (323m2) has 250 seats and a 23m2 stage. What is particularly interesting about the stage, is the fact, that the stage in 5 meters in diameter works also as a freight elevator that brings to or removes from the stage the scenographic set and other elements needed for the execution of the events and performances. This elevator rises and descends down to the depth of around 5 meters.

Štih Hall is the only ‘arena stage’ hall in Slovenia and it presents a special challenge for theatre directors.

The CD Congress Centre’s team cooperates with three catering providers: Jezeršek Catering, Maxi Catering, and Vivo Catering. According to client’s wishes, the client can either arrange all of the catering with one of these three providers, or the CD staff will do it for them.

Since the Štih Hall is located in one of the most important Slovenian cultural centres that bursts at the seams with the offer of arts and culture, there is no need to look for incentive programmes elsewhere. Everything is right there, just a few steps away: concerts, exhibitions, movie festivals, theatre and dance performances, etc..
